CIMASUB 2023 presents a selection of film works that reflect these artists' passion for the sea. Through their art, they show both the exquisite beauty of the oceans and their distressing degradation. These filmmakers emphasize the pressure that humanity puts on an ecosystem vital to all life on Earth. Tickets for the screenings can be purchased at the box office each screening day, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm and from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
But CIMASUB is not only underwater cinema; it is a complete event that encompasses multiple dimensions of the relationship between humans and the ocean. Accompanying the film screenings, three stunning underwater photographic exhibitions are presented in different locations in San Sebastian. The Aquarium, the Garbera shopping center and the Kirol Etxea of the Reale Arena stadium open their doors to immerse visitors in the mysterious seabed and the complex relationship between mankind and nature.

CIMASUB's commitment to education and environmental awareness is manifested in the Txikiziklo Submarino, an educational tour that has involved more than 2,500 first grade students from Gipuzkoa in 2023. This program aims to promote ocean conservation and foster children's appreciation for the sea.
In addition, a photography and environmental awareness workshop at the Aquarium on Saturday, November 11 at 5 p.m. will offer a unique experience for children as part of CIMASUB's annual underwater photography exhibition.
The organization of the event falls to Subacuáticas Real Sociedad, which since 1975 has been dedicated to publicizing the underwater world and raising awareness of respect and care for our seas and oceans through the dissemination of audiovisual works. CIMASUB has become an important channel of communication between the ambassadors of the sea, underwater photographers and videographers, and the thousands of people who visit the cinemas where this prestigious international event is held. This is a reality every year thanks to the participation of the Royal Society Foundation, the Aquarium and the Mater Museo. The sponsorship of Donostia Kultura, Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, Basque Government, Federation of underwater activities of Gipuzkoa, and other private entities such as Footage.Film, Padi and different collaborating entities.
CIMASUB 2023 promises to be an unforgettable experience that invites us to appreciate and protect the underwater world and to reflect on our responsibility to take care of it.
