Cimasub in Tolosa:

Tolosa is preparing to celebrate Environment Week from June 5 to 8, with water as the central theme. Organized by the Department of Environment of the City Council of Tolosa in collaboration with Tolosako Ingurumen Zentroa, the aim is to raise awareness about the importance of water care and conservation of underwater and subway ecosystems.

The event will kick off on June 5, International Environment Day, with screenings of the International Underwater Film Series (CIMASUB). From 10:00 am, the Leidor will be filled with students thanks to the Txikizikloa initiative, which seeks to instill ocean conservation among the youngest under the slogan “Building the blue future”. In the afternoon, at 19:00h, the Topic will offer a free spectacular film projection with the experiences of outstanding underwater photographers and videographers from around the world.

On June 7, in collaboration with Lurpea Garbi, the documentary “SALUBITA, discovering the secret of the largest spring in Gipuzkoa” will be screened at 19:00h at Topic. The screening will be followed by a round table with the biologist Eneko Agirre, the hydrogeologist Inma Mugertza and the archaeology student Maddi Agirre. The documentary highlights the importance of protecting the Salubita spring and the aquifer system it feeds.
On June 8, from 10:00 to 14:00, an exhibition will be installed in the Paseo San Francisco with 9 panels showing the current situation of the caves of the region through photos and the garbage extracted from them. In addition, there will be a guided visit to the Salubita spring, leaving at 10:00h from Santa Clara by bus, with explanations by the hydrogeologist Inma Mugertza.

Finally, the Biodiversity Classroom will offer two more events next week. On Wednesday June 5 at 18:00h, there will be a seminar on orchids in Antxon Bandres Bidaiarien Txokoa, and on Sunday June 9, there will be an outing to the Aralar Natural Park to know the mountain Ausa Gaztelu, with meeting point at 09:00h in the Dama Verde.

On June 7 at 10 am, on the eve of International Oceans Day, the final event of the project ¡Atención! No me aplastastes!-Kontuz! Ez nazazu zapaldu! at the Bizkaia Aretoa (UPV/EHU) in Bilbao. All those involved in the project will participate, and there will be live streaming for those who cannot attend.

The event will include screenings of short films from the Ciclo Internacional de Cine Submarino de Donostia (CIMASUB), a talk by Cecilia Teodora Satta on phytoplankton, and a presentation by Plàncton, Divulgació i Serveis Marins entitled “Sexo al mar”. Cimasub in Tenerife:

The International Underwater Film Series arrives for the first time in Tenerife. The event will take place on June 27 at 18:30h, at the Teatro Espacio de las Artes (TEA) in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where spectators will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in an underwater visual feast through free film screenings. This exciting program will feature a selection of cinematographic works by some of the world's most renowned underwater photographers and videographers, who will share with the audience their passion for the sea and their commitment to its preservation.

In addition to the film screenings, CIMASUB will offer a stunning underwater photographic exhibition in the Los Lavaderos exhibition hall, which will be open to the public from June 28 to August 1. This exhibition will immerse visitors in the mysterious seabed, giving them the opportunity to explore the incredible diversity of marine life and the complex relationship between humanity and nature.
Under the slogan “Building a Blue Future,” CIMASUB seeks to emphasize the importance of educating new generations about the importance of protecting our seas and oceans. Through its activities, the event aims to inspire a positive change in the way we perceive and relate to the marine environment, fostering greater awareness and respect for these fragile ecosystems.

CIMASUB is organized by Subacuáticas Real Sociedad and has the financial support of the City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the Fundación Santa Cruz Sostenible and the Cabildo de Tenerife, as well as the collaboration of the Office of Environmental Participation and Volunteering of Tenerife, the Federation of Underwater Activities Canaria and the Espacio de las Artes de Tenerife TEA, local organizations committed to the conservation of the marine environment.
