‘Sultana’s Dream’ nominated for the 2024 European Film Awards!
The European Film Academy has announced the selected works for this year's prestigious European Film Awards, and among the nominees is the film ‘Sultana’s Dream’ in the European Animated Feature Film 2024 category.
Directed by Isabel Herguera, the film continues its remarkable journey both nationally and internationally. Notably, it has received the Best Film Award in the Contrechamp Section of the prestigious Annecy Festival 2024 and the Best Animated Film Award at the Platino Awards. It has also been nominated for other renowned awards such as the Cartoon Movie Tributes, the Goya Awards, the Platino Awards for Ibero-American Cinema, and the Forqué and Feroz Awards.
Additionally, ‘Sultana’s Dream’ was showcased at the San Sebastián Festival in 2023, making history as the first animated film to compete for the Golden Shell in the Official Section. It has also participated in The Hong Kong International Film Festival and the Ottawa International Animation Festival.
The European Film Academy will announce the winning films on 7 December at a gala in Lucerne, Switzerland.
Produced by Sultana Films, Uniko, El Gatoverde Producciones, Abano Producións, and Fabian & Fred, the film tells the story of the young Spanish director Inés. In 1905, the Bengali writer Rokeya Hossein dreamed of Ladyland, a utopian land ruled by women. Over a century later, Inés embarks on a journey of self-discovery, following in Rokeya’s footsteps and searching for Ladyland.
