Dock of the Bay, the Donostia Music Documentary Film Festival, to be held from June 17 to 22, announces the names of the Jury and presents the image of this XVII edition.
The Donostia Music Documentary Film Festival, Dock of the Bay, will celebrate its seventeenth edition from June 17 to 22 at the Trueba Cinemas, Tabakalera and other venues in the city such as Le Bukowski, Kutxa Fundazioa (Kluba and Plaza) or Convento de Santa Teresa.
The image of the Festival is in charge, one more year, of Estudio Primo. In this edition, the starting point was the idea of movement as a way of representing music in a poetic and visual way. Jorge Elósegi, author of the poster, describes it as follows:
“We have been exploring the relationship between music and movement in the graphics of the Dock of the Bay for years. What could be more direct than the movements of a body to the rhythm of music to represent this link between image and sound? The body as a visual transmitter of sonic waves. This year we had the dancer Jone Amezaga to talk about this relationship in a shooting that left us amazed by the use of the body, the fluidity and naturalness of her movements; without artifice, in a natural and spontaneous way. This is how we should all dance (even if we are not professionals), that is, without prejudices, forgetting what is supposed to be a dance step or a predefined movement beforehand.
Together with photographer Alex Iturralde, in two hours of shooting and music at 120 beats per minute, we took the necessary photos and videos to be able to design the general graphics of the festival. Black and white images that try to reflect Jone's movements in an expressive and raw way, with nothing but the white wall in the background. The idea was to create timeless images, out of a specific time, reflecting this relationship that has existed since the beginning of time: the relationship between music and human beings. Seventeen years and counting. Long live the Dock!
