In February CIMASUB immerses Lasarte-Oria and Zarautz in an underwater show
This February, the International Underwater Film Series, CIMASUB, will captivate lovers of the underwater world in Lasarte-Oria and Zarautz. The 16th edition in Lasarte-Oria will take place on Monday 12th, 19th and 26th February at 19:00 at the Manuel Lekuona Cultural Centre, while the 14th edition in Zarautz will be held on Wednesday 14th, 19th and 28th February at 19:00 at the Modelo cinema.
Both editions offer a unique opportunity to explore the beauty and discover the secrets of the oceans through free underwater screenings, exhibitions and educational activities. Attendees will be able to immerse themselves in the unique experience that brings together the world's best photographers and videographers.
CIMASUB presents a captivating selection of cinematic works that reflect the artists' passion for the sea, showing both its exquisite beauty and its distressing degradation.
CIMASUB is not limited to underwater cinema, but offers a complete experience that explores various dimensions of the relationship between humans and the ocean.In Lasarte-Oria, a stunning underwater photographic exhibition accompanies the film screenings in the cafeteria of the cultural centre, open from 12 to 29 February, Monday to Friday from 17:00 to 20:00. Meanwhile, in Zarautz, the exhibition is on show at Merkatu plaza, from 14 to 29 February, from Monday to Friday from 17:00 to 19:00 and at weekends from 12:00 to 14:00, immersing visitors in the mysterious seabed and the complex relationship between humanity and nature.
In addition, CIMASUB's commitment to education and environmental awareness is embodied in the Txikiziklo Submarino, an educational tour that has involved more than 2,500 primary school students from Gipuzkoa in 2023. The Manuel Lekuona cinema in Lasarte-Oria and the Modelo cinema in Zarautz will host students on 19 and 14 February, respectively, offering a unique experience for children from schools in the region.
Admission is free, and everyone is invited to immerse themselves in this underwater visual feast that addresses the multiple dimensions of the relationship between humans and the ocean.
